‘A pinch of’ is a small Tasmanian artisan food business that creates delicious and unique treats using local ingredients.  Its product range includes hand-crafted flavour infused salts, spices, Tasmanian native/wild food and a range of sweet treats including caramels, popcorn and flavoured walnuts.

Sales were initially through local farmers’ markets and food fairs but it is quickly changing its focus to wholesale sales to retailers and resellers.

It evolved from owner Robyn Mayne’s lifelong love of creating unique (and slightly quirky) food as well as a passion for locally produced Tasmanian produce.

Robyn saw an opportunity based on a growing trend within Tasmania to support locally produced Tasmanian produce.  While Robyn initially had a goal and the start of a business plan, she was finding it difficult to get her business started.

KONEKT employment NEIS helped her to focus and turn her dream business idea into a reality.

“The NEIS program helped me look at my new business idea than I ever would have,” Robyn said. “I was able to identify potential problems, really understand the legal and government requirements and develop a plan that would help me to adapt to changes and maximise opportunities in the marketplace.

“It has provided me with many additional business skills and the mentoring has been a wonderful way to keep on track.

“With the help of KONEKT employment NEIS I have a business I love.”

A pinch of was recently announced as finalist in the BizCover NEIS-Change Award category of the National NEIS Association Awards.  The winner of the award will be announced on 22 August 2017 at the Gala Awards Dinner, 2017 Small Business Development Conference.
